Synthetic Cryolite, also known as sodium hexafluoroaluminate (Na3AlF6), is a white monoclinic mineral that melts at 1009 degrees Celsius. It is slightly soluble in water and can dissolve alumina when molten. This property makes it essential as a flux in the electrolytic aluminum industry. Additionally, it serves as an opacifier in the manufacture of opalescent glass and enamel.
