Application

Potassium cryolite (KAlF4) serves as a high-performance, non-corrosive flux primarily utilized in aluminum brazing and soldering. Its key advantage lies in its low melting point (~560°C), which enables efficient oxide removal and promotes superior filler metal wetting without damaging the base metal. This makes it essential for joining aluminum components in heat exchangers, automotive radiators, and HVAC systems. Additionally, it acts as a specialized fluxing agent in metallurgy for refining certain alloys and as an additive in ceramic/abrasive manufacturing to lower processing temperatures. Unlike sodium cryolite (Na3AlF6), it is not used in primary aluminum electrolysis due to detrimental effects on cell efficiency and longevity.

White or light gray powder, slightly soluble in water.melting point is 560 ºC Potassium Aluminum Fluoride (KAlF4) is a commercial grade fused solid, inorganic salt. The material serves as an alternative to conventional fluoride salts for a variety of applications, a few of which are listed below. The size can be:1-3mm, 20, 40, 100, 200 and 325mesh. It is composed by KF-AlF3, Molecular rate near 1.2, melting point 557-580. Solubility in 1000g water: at 0: 0.8g; at 25: 1.42g, at 100: 4.58g.
