PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Cryolite, colorless to white halide mineral, sodium aluminum fluoride (Na3AlF6). It is used as a solvent for bauxite in the production of electrolytic aluminum and has a variety of other metallurgical uses; it is also used in the glass and enamel industries, as a filler for bonded abrasives, and in the manufacture of insecticides. Large quantities of synthetic cryolite are made from fluorite.
